Who is the artist of this work? What is the style called?
This is a detail from the central panel of a Hieronymous Bosch painting called "The Garden of Earthly Delights".

The style of his painting is sometimes referred to as "proto-surrealism" as he made heavy usage of iconography and symbolism in his works.
Reply:Michael Connelly (author of mysteries) has a character called Harry Bosch based on the painter.
Reply:It is an excerpt"The Garden of Earthly Delights" by Hieronymous Bosch. He was a dutch painter from the 1500s. Most of his pictures were religious and tryptichs. (tri-folded paintings on wood, usually of a religious nature)
